SOAC 2021 will be held entirely online using Microsoft Teams.
The latest version of the program is now online, however please note that the day before you are presenting you will be sent a program for the following day with Teams links to access your session and all the other sessions for the day.
This program will be the definitive version. Please check the program when you receive it to ensure your time hasn't changed and your session is hyperlinked. If you haven't received the program by 6pm the night before your presentation please contact us via email@example.com.
Please note that it is best to use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome as your browser to access links in the program. You may not be able to acces the links using Firefox and Safari.
The conference will be run entirely on Microsoft Teams. You can access Microsoft Teams from your web browser by clicking the session links, but it is better to download the app, available here. Please check that you can access Teams from your computer before your presentation. For those new to using Teams, here’s a short video on joining a meeting.
Please mute/turn off when you are not speaking.
Use of PowerPoint
You will be presenting from your own device and therefore will be sharing your screen and controlling your own presentation. Once your presentation is finished please stop screen sharing.
Abstract sessions will be regular Microsoft Teams meetings, where delegates, session chairs and speakers will see one another. The session chair will invite verbal questions from the audience just like in an in-person environment.
A Teams background for presenting in the session can be downloaded here. We encourage presenters to use this background, however it is optional. There is no need to add this slide to your PPT presentations, it is simply for use during your presentation as a background. Please be sure to download it and set it as your Teams background before your session.
Your time slot includes 15 minutes for your presentation followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. Please keep within this slot when presenting. The session chair will be time keeping to ensure fairness to subsequent speakers and delegates.
Access to session - Please join your session 15 minutes prior to the start. AV will assist the presenters with checking sound/slides etc and let in the audience at the start of the session.
Time keeping – Please ensure the session runs to time. The format of each abstract presentation is 15 mins of presentation and 5 mins for Q&A. If the session is running over then you should consider cutting time from the Q&A session.
Q&A - The chair will invite verbal questions from the audience just like in an in-person environment. Session chairs should explain this before the beginning of the session.
